Publishing gives your project a public address such as `your-name.r21.dev`. Anyone with the link can open the site without a Mythos account. Your workspace Preview and your published site are separate. You can keep editing privately while the current public version stays unchanged. The live site updates only when you choose **Update**. > **Warning** > > A published site is public and does not include password protection. Remove > private information and review [Project security](/features/project-security) before sharing the link. ## Before you publish Make sure the latest Preview is the version you want visitors to see. Check the main pages on desktop and mobile, test important links and forms, and confirm that any connected service uses the intended project. For search details and an icon, open **More → SEO & AI search** before publishing. You can also connect a domain you own from **More → Domains**. Publishing and updating a site do not spend credits. You need permission to manage publication. Project editors can publish when the workspace allows it; a workspace can restrict publishing to its owners and admins. The same restriction applies to updates, unpublishing, the public URL, and domain management. If an action is unavailable, ask a workspace owner or admin to review your access. See [People and permissions](/features/people-and-permissions) and [Privacy and security settings](/introduction/privacy-security). ## Publish the first version #### Open Publish Select **Publish** in the top-right of the workspace Preview. The panel shows the site address, public access, and security status. #### Choose the address Select the pencil beside **Website URL** to edit the `*.r21.dev` name. Save a name when Mythos shows that it is available. #### Review public access Confirm that anyone with the URL may view the site. If the security review reports an issue, return to the project and remove the exposed value before publishing. #### Select Publish Mythos puts the version you reviewed online. When the panel shows **Your site is live**, select **Visit site** or copy the URL. Visitor analytics collects only when the live site's **Visitor analytics** setting is enabled and the visitor chooses **Allow analytics** on that hostname. The setting is on by default and can be changed under **More → Project settings → Publishing**. Preview traffic is not counted. See [Project analytics](/publishing/analytics) for visitor choices and what the totals represent. ## Update a live site Editing in chat or the code editor does not immediately change the public site. Review the new Preview, open **Publish**, and select **Update** when it is ready. The previous version remains live while Mythos prepares the update. If the update fails, visitors keep seeing that previous version. Resolve the message shown in the panel, confirm Preview is ready, and try **Update** again. > **Tip** > > This separation lets you continue working without showing unfinished changes > to visitors. ## Change the address or use your own domain You can edit the Mythos subdomain after publishing. The new address replaces the old one, so update bookmarks and links you have already shared. To use an address such as `www.yourbrand.com`, connect a domain you already own. See [Custom domains](/publishing/custom-domains). ## Unpublish Open the Publish menu, choose **Unpublish**, and confirm the action. The public URL stops serving the site, but your Mythos project and Preview remain available. You can publish it again later. ## Good to know * Each project has one current public version. * A data or account flow needs a working backend. Connect [managed Supabase](/integrations/supabase) when required and test the complete flow before sharing the public site. * A custom domain serves the same published project as its Mythos URL. * Search engines and social platforms may keep older titles or previews in their own caches after a change. ## Troubleshooting #### The live site is out of date Open **Publish** and select **Update**. Saving or building a new version does not update the public site automatically. #### Publishing failed Read the message in the Publish panel, confirm the latest Preview is ready, and try again. If the project was already live, the previous version stays available. #### I published private content by mistake Choose **Unpublish** immediately. Remove the private content, review the project, and publish again only when it is safe to share. If a credential was exposed, revoke or rotate it with its provider; removing the page does not make a leaked credential secret again. ## Related * [Custom domains](/publishing/custom-domains) — connect an address you own. * [SEO & AI search](/publishing/seo) — review discovery details and crawler access. * [Project analytics](/publishing/analytics) — understand traffic to the live site. > Learn how to turn an idea into a working app, improve it in Mythos, and publish it when it is ready.
